Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) is a non-profit, voluntary initiative of Bangladesh Fundamental Research Institute (BdFRI). It was launched on 24th October 2005 in Dhaka. The initial idea is to create a broad organization where the Open Source and Open Content volunteers and professionals can exchange their ideas and embark on new initiatives. In the last year after formation BdOSN has matured into an independent organization with partnerships with other Open Source based organization and individuals.

Onnorokom Group and CTD become congress sponsor |
|
The leading technology group Onnorokom Group become the first sponsor of the congress. The Chairman of the group Mr Mahmudul Hasan Sohag expressed his feelings that the arrangement of the first congress will inspire the OSS activist in the country. He said that they will continue their support in future event. On a different note the Chief Technical Officer of CTD thanks BdOSN for giving them the opportunity for being the sponsor of the congress.

BDOSN is going to organize a 3 day long workshop on “Search engine Optimization” at Chittagong from 15 th September , 2011 jointly with Independent university. The workshop will held at two shift the morning shift and the evening shift. The morning shift will held from 9 am to 2 pm am the evening shift will from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm. The main topic of the workshop are- search engine, search engine optimization, google adsense, link indexing, social book marking forum post etc. Mr. Al Amin Choudhury best freelancer awarded by BESIS will conduct the workshop. BdOSN organized its first congress at Sundarban. |

First BdOSN congress held at Sundarban from 7 December – 10 December. The congress was organized with the volunteers who believe in open source software and worked to expand open source philosophy. workshop, seminar, group discussion, future plan, training session was the key term of the congress. 150 persons from different profession of teachers, students, BdOSN volunteers, freelancer and many more people took part in the congress.
Asus, Onnorokom Group, Teletalk, BIIC, Orator PR, CTD and Tamrolipi was the sponsors of the program.

Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) & Center for Technology Development (CTD) has signed a MoU to work jointly for human resource development, open source and technology research. The MoU was signed at BdOSN head office. Shah Md. Imran Program Coordinator of BdOSN and Mr. Jabed Morshed the Chief Technical Officer of CTD singed the MoU for their respective company. Professor Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Mr. Munir Hasan (General Secretary of BdOSN), Farseem Mannan (Assistant Professor of BUET), Jabed Sultan Pias (Executive member of BdOSN), Nurunnaby Hasive ( Public Relation Coordinator of BdOSN), Tamim Shahriar Subeen (Academic Councilor of BdMO), Baizid Bhuiyan Juwel (Coordinator of BdMO), Kabbo Ahmed and many more BdOSN members, MOVers were present at the ceremony. Later, there was an open discussion on Bangla Wikipedia & Open source software.
