National AI Olympiad 2025 Successfully Held at BUBT

The national round of the Bangladesh Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (BDAIO) 2025 was successfully hosted at the Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) on 17th May,2025, jointly organized by BUBT and the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN). 

A total of 171 students from various educational institutions across Bangladesh participated in the national phase after qualifying through earlier selection rounds. The main segment of the competition featured a comprehensive “Machine Learning and Programming Contest,” challenging participants on key AI concepts and practical problem-solving. 

As a new addition to this year’s competition, a 30-minute quiz competetion was held featuring multiple-choice questions and fill-in-the-blanks related to Artificial Intelligence and Python programming. A total of 235 students participated in this quiz across both junior and senior categories. Alongside the competition, a Q/A session titled “Living in the AI Era” was held. Following this, a workshop on the Kaggle platform was held and the day-long event concluded with a lively cultural performance. 

In the main contest, Labib Shahriar secured first place, followed by Abdullah Zobayer and Md. Risat Islam. They will represent Bangladesh at the International Olympiad in AI going to held in Beijing, China this year. In the quiz competition, Aqud Iqbal Hoque topped the junior category, while Sakhwat Hossain Saikot led the senior division. 

The event concluded with a prize-giving ceremony, where Dr. Md. Tayyabur Rahman, Joint Secretary of the ICT Division, motivated students to embrace innovation and technological advancement. The entire event was coordinated by BUBT’s CSE Department with support from sponsors including REVE chat.
