Girls Shaping Digital Future: Popi’s Journey of shaping a Safer Agricultural Future Through Digital Platform

Umma Kulsum Popi is an agri-entrepreneur and digital agri-content creator from Bangladesh, widely known for her work in promoting safe and sustainable agriculture through online platforms. Her journey reflects how passion, learning, and the right support system can turn a simple idea into a growing movement.

In 2019, at the beginning of her initiative Premium Fruits, she joined the Girls Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program by Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN). That early experience gave her direction, confidence, and exposure to entrepreneurship. Later, she became part of another cohort by Bangladesh Open Source Network in 2021 designed for existing female entrepreneurs, where mentorship and networking played a key role in strengthening and expanding her business.

Over time, her journey moved beyond business into impact-driven digital work. She grew into an agri-content creator, using digital platforms to educate people about safe agriculture and sustainable practices. She says, “I want to promote safe agriculture not just as farming but as something that ensures people’s wellbeing.” Today, she is working toward building an institutional platform to provide structured training on safe agriculture in the future.

On the occasion of International Girls in ICT Day 2026, her story highlights how girls are shaping the digital future through innovation and resilience.

“I believe everyone should chase what they truly love, dive deep into it through study, and and go after it like it’s yours already. As females, we often face more challenges than our male counterparts, but patience and self-belief change everything. No matter how many times we fail, we must keep trusting our own capacity and keep moving forward.”

As we celebrate International Girls in ICT Day 2026, Umma Kulsum Popi’s story inspires us to imagine a future where more girls step forward, use digital tools with confidence, and transform their ideas into impact. Her work in safe agriculture is not only about farming—it is about building awareness, trust, and healthier lives for communities.
