Dev Mania Project Competition Winners 2022

Bangladesh Open Source Network organized "DevMania 2022," an online hackathon for women, as part of the “Enabling Sustainable Development Goals of Bangladesh by 2030 (ESDG4BD)” project. ESDG4BD is a project for bringing girls into the ICT sector. The project competition aims to sharpen the existing skills of girls in computer science. The entire contest process involved female students from various universities.

 

The contest was split into two segments: a preliminary round and a final round. The Registration process of the preliminary round started on the 30th June 2022. After the selection process, 9 teams were selected for the final idea presentation. On 29th July the teams appeared for the final round and after the close evaluation of the judges, the top three teams were selected as the winning team and they were awarded with prize money: Champion 15K BDT, 1st runner up 10K BDT and 2nd Runner up 8K BDT. 

The top three teams were from- Champion Team Dhaka Executors from North South University (NSU), 1st Runner Up Team MIST Soloist from Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) and 2nd Runner Up Team MIST Constants from Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST).

Key objective of this project competition was to- 

  • To sharpen the innovative ideas of our tech enthusiast girls to solve the real-life problem
  • To encourage our girls in thinking of the tech-based solution to overcome the challenges of fourth industrial revolution
  • To strengthen the existing skills of girls in computer science

At the final pitching round, each team had to present their idea concept with a live demo. On the basis of their presentation preparation, realistic implementation of the project and the effectiveness of the solution, three honorable judges of the contest evaluate their project. Among the judges, Molla Rashied Hussein was one of our resource persons who is Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), University of Asia Pacific (UAP).  Another judge was Mst. Shahnaj Parvin who is Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Central Women's University. Md. Safaet Hossain was also present as judge who is the Head of the Department, Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), City University.

This project contest was conducted under the three years ESDG4BD project of BdOSN. This project is closely monitored by Manuser Jonno Foundation.
