Mathematics and Science sessions were conducted at Shaheed Kamel Model High School, Tala, Satkhira

On 17th July 2023, Mathematics and Science sessions were conducted at Shaheed Kamel Model High School, Tala, Satkhira, under the STEM & ICT Skills for the Girls of Coastal Area (SISGCA) project funded by Malala Fund in association with BdOSN.

The main objectives of this SISGCA project are - reducing disparity in digital device use (mainly by girls in coastal areas), Enhancing students' problem-solving abilities through exceptional ways of learning, reinforcing foundational concepts that will serve as a strong base for their future mathematical endeavors, engaging and educating students in the fascinating world of mathematics, promoting a positive attitude towards the subject. To assist them in becoming skilled for the future workplace
Mathematics session was started with a welcome note by M.A. Kashem, Head Teacher of Shaheed Kamel Model High School Committee. Then Shajib Kumar Borman, Project Coordinator, SISGCA, briefed the session objectives and goals.
After that, Turab Haque Payel, Academic Coordinator, Bangladesh Mathematics Olympiad, utilize interactive teaching methods and group activities to make learning math enjoyable and engaging, fostering a positive learning environment. Foster a curiosity and passion for mathematics, encouraging students to explore the subject beyond the classroom and nurturing a lifelong appreciation for learning.

Then Md. Mainul Hoque, Academic Team Member, MASLab, conducted a hands-on based practical science session. He initiated the properties of lights one by one. Reflection, refraction, total internal reflection, movement of light, uses of light, and light beam properties were described with regular days available materials. Students were amazed by seeing the seven color bands of light.

By the end of this session, students felt more eager to learn science studies in a different way and possessed a positive attitude towards the subjects and a positive attitude towards the subject. also, some books were gifted to the students by the project to boost their motivation.
