An awareness-raising session was conducted at Comrade Ratan Sen Girls Collegiate School in Rupsha, Khulna as part of the project titled "STEM & ICT Skills for Girls of Coastal Areas" (SISGCA) On October 3, 2023. The Bangladesh Open Source Network organized the event and aimed to inform parents about the project and its impact on their daughters' education.

The session was attended by several distinguished guests, including School Headmaster Lakshan Kumar Saha, academic member of the school committee governing body Mr. Alhaj Abdul Majeed Halder, school committee member Arifur Rahman, upazila coordinator M. Muzahiduzzaman, school teachers, and parents of 53 students.

Mr. Alhaj Abdul Majeed Halder, the event's chief guest, opened the session by expressing his gratitude to the STEM & ICT project organizers. He highlighted this initiative's positive impact on students' academic performance and emphasized the crucial role parents play in their children's success. Mr. Halder stressed that parents should actively support their children's educational journey, ensuring they receive all the necessary resources and care. He underscored that by nurturing their skills and talents, students can become valuable assets to the country and society, and he appealed for the full cooperation of all parents in this endeavor.

The Headmaster of Comrade Ratan Sen Girls Collegiate School, Lakshan Kumar Saha, addressed the parents, noting the significant improvement in students' learning outcomes since the implementation of the STEM & ICT project. He pointed out that, thanks to the project, students rely on traditional textbooks and benefit from hands-on learning experiences in well-equipped laboratories. The Headmaster encouraged parents to continue providing their daughters with the time and support they need, as it is vital for the students to realize their talents and potential fully.

The session also allowed parents to share their thoughts and opinions, fostering open communication between the school and the families.

The program was officially closed with the Headmaster's permission. The awareness-raising session successfully conveyed the importance of the STEM & ICT project in enhancing students' educational experience at Comrade Ratan Sen Girls Collegiate School. It also emphasized the critical role parents play in supporting and nurturing their children's skills and abilities, ultimately contributing to the growth and development of these young learners. The event significantly strengthened the partnership between the school, the community, and the Bangladesh Open Source Network in fostering educational excellence for girls in coastal areas.

This program's main objective is to increase parents' awareness to empower girls, starting from primary education and extending to their integration into employment. In this journey, we have noticed that they need support from their families, friends, teachers, and other sources. The key message we want to convey is that when girls have a conducive environment for education, their potential is unfettered. They can access many support systems to help them thrive.
